MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2014: WIDE LEG PANTS

An economical movement began the trend of WOMEN wearing trouser pants during the 1940’s. Women found a new sense of independence as they became professionals in the workforce. Now, WOMEN wearing trousers is a FASHION statement that is not going anywhere anytime soon! To me, this photo below screams “I CAN DO IT ALL AND LOOK GOOD WHILE DOING IT!!!”

And that is EXACTLY how I felt MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND wearing my version of the wide-leg high waist trousers. What do you think!?

2014-05-24 22.35.33-1Now before I get into my eventful Memorial day weekend, I MUST tell you all the story behind this photo!!! Sooooo I suck taking full body pic. I never know how to pose and its really AWKWARD!! Plus my boyfriend is forced to take my pictures and his patience is VERY LOOOOOOOW!!! For some reason he thinks a home photo shoot with a camera phone is equivalent to a studio photo shoot with a professional camera. All he does is SNAP, SNAP, SNAP, SNAP, SNAP, AND SNAP. The picture you see above is my standard pose! Now I am stuck and while I am thinking of a new pose my arm starts to itch………..SNAP…………………………………………….SNAP!!!!

I have no more poses!

I have no more poses!

I get mad because I wasn’t ready!!!

Why do you keep snapping and I am not ready!!!

Why do you keep snapping and I am not ready!!!

So anyway! My weekend was great. Went to the 24th UMOJA  festival in Portsmouth, Va. There were lots of people, great food, and awesome live bands. Then I headed to Virginia Beach, Va  to enjoy a long walk on the beach and good food at Dough Boys. Moments later it was time to say GOODBYE!!!

Long Day! Leaving Virginia Beach!

Why do you like thrift/vintage? I like vintage because it will always be classic. Beautiful vintage pieces has repeatable fashion

Where did you find this item? H&M

What inspired you to buy/ make this piece? I love the sleeves on the blouse. Reminded me of a dream girl from the 40s. I was able to find a similar piece in Sammy Davis’s blog 21 Reasons Why You Should Wear 1940s Clothing & Trends

How did you feel when wearing this item? I felt chic! No other way! As soon as I got in the car I heard Michael Jackson song The girl is mine and felt like I was having the most romantic day at the park sitting at the bench sipping cool ice-tea with a little while umbrella blocking me from the sun as I day dream about my handsome prince

What is your style philosophy? To have FUN! Be FREE! Be AGE APPROPRIATE!

What song best describe you style? Blame it on the Boogie ( I LOVE MJ!!!)
